L’Ostalas, an ecolodge in Occitania for a disconnection and well-being break

France / Occitanie

About 15 kilometers from Montauban and 1 hour from Toulouse, in Lafrançaise, L’Ostalas welcomes you for a rejuvenating getaway. In this ecolodge in Occitania, located in a former organic fruit farm, everything has been thought to preserve the nature and the soul of the place: from the garden layout to the rooms’ furniture, from the plate to the soap. Through a simple and uncluttered decoration, this ecological hotel invites you to discover a sober way of life and to reconnect to the essential. L’Ostalas is also a place dedicated to well-being with numerous physical and spiritual activities organized every day. To complete your stay, the table d’hôtes offers healthy and tasty food. Ideally located to explore the foothills of the Quercy and the natural riches of the Tarn-et-Garonne, all you have to do is relax and let yourself be carried away during your vacation.

Why come to L’Ostalas?

Ostalas means “big house” in Occitan. Warmth, simplicity and charm are the key words of a stay in this ecolodge in Occitania.

Clean, sober and comfortable rooms

Each of the 12 rooms at L’Ostalas is furnished in a sober, elegant and refined manner for a true invitation to rejuvenation. The materials, textures and furniture have been carefully chosen to take care of you, the environment and to make you enjoy a quality stay.

More than a hotel: a place dedicated to well-being

The Ostalas is much more than an eco-responsible hotel. It is a real place of exchanges and encounters with your hosts, Brigitte and François, other travelers and also with yourself. In addition to the forest, the swimming pool and the orchard that surround the domain, many spiritual and physical practices are proposed to mark out your days and your stay.

With 3 daily activities, you can practice or discover :

  • Qi gong ;
  • Stretching ;
  • Meditation ;
  • Sophrology ;
  • Yin Yoga ;
  • And many others.

Your well-being also depends on your plate. The table d’hôtes of L’Ostalas offers you a healthy vegetarian food made from local, organic and seasonal products. Vegetables from the neighboring field and fruits from the orchard will decorate the pretty, colorful and vitaminized plates.

What to do around this ecolodge in Occitania ?

Between nature…

Located in the village of Lafrançaise in the heart of the Tarn-et-Garonne department, the natural riches of the Occitanie region surrounding L’Ostalas will surprise you.

Take a bath in nature while hiking in the Gorges du Tarn or Aveyron. Explore the regional natural park of the Causses du Quercy to the north of the ecolodge, including the medieval village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, ranked among the most beautiful in France. Numerous sporting activities also await you in the region: golf, climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, via ferrata or horseback riding.

…and culture

Start your visits with Moissac, not far from there. The cloister of the Abbey Saint-Pierre or the bridge-canal of Cacor on the Tarn are not to be missed to discover the Romanesque architecture.

Don’t miss Montauban, a very well preserved medieval city. Take a trip back in time by strolling on the Place Nationale, the Pont Vieux or the Saint-Jacques church, without forgetting the museum dedicated to the local children Ingres and Bourdelle. A little touch of anachronism, the Street Art that decorates the facades of the city will remind you that you are in the 21st century.

The ecological commitment at L’Ostalas

Ecological commitment is an integral part of the philosophy of L’Ostalas. For its owners, Brigitte and François, it is a meaningful project that they have built on the basis of their convictions, their values and their own experiences.

An eco-responsible hotel…

L’Ostalas is the hummingbird’s share of the founders. The place has been renovated and redesigned with respect to the local architecture. At all stages of the project, Brigitte and François have endeavored to favor environmentally and socially responsible solutions :

  • Organic waxed concrete ;
  • Healthy and durable insulation ;
  • Natural, organic and 100% vegetable bedding ;
  • Reintroduction of bees ;
  • French organic linen bedding ;
  • Fan instead of air conditioning ;
  • Ecological furniture.

The natural heritage of the 6 hectares of the domain, notably the orchard, has also been maintained to preserve the original soul of the place. Finally, the organic and vegetarian table d’hôtes is supplied locally: local producers or fruits from the orchard make up the majority of the plates.

… and participatory

For the guests, their ecolodge in Occitania is also a place that involves actors engaged in a similar approach to their own: preservation of the environment and health. Thus, the linen sheets are bought in Normandy, from a young company very committed to their local producers. The laundry is entrusted to an ESAT. The estate has been largely restored with the help of WWOOFers: volunteers of all nationalities who want to participate in a meaningful project and discover the local culture.

The limited number of rooms and the quality of the speakers who lead the workshops offered throughout the day make this eco-responsible accommodation a privileged place of exchange.
