To make it easier to read, I've put some pictures of our stay at the bottom of this article

We had the chance to do both during our week of vacation. This summer, like many others, we visited France and we didn't regret it. Moreover, we immediately saw an opportunity to meet some eco responsible hotels referenced on Ethik Hotels.

To make it easier to read, I've put some pictures of our stay at the bottom of this article

Not being a fan of long distances by car, we decided to organize our trip so as not to make more than 5 hours between the stages.

Considering our professional activities, we decided to do it late and we also had to adapt to the availability of the Ethik Hotels. Once all this was put together the program was done: 2 days in the Roulotte d'Elicie in Burgundy, 4 days in Terre de Baronnies and then back to a rental in Burgundy for 3 nights.

Elicie's caravan

Sophie and Stéphane bought this beautiful caravan a few years ago. They renovated it to make a nice cocoon. They then installed it at the bottom of their garden to add a superb terrace with an exceptional panoramic view. It seems that you can see up to 150 km. This is where we are offered a hearty breakfast every morning.

Never short of ideas, for the sanitary facilities, they have recovered an old building site hut to make a charming and comfortable bathroom.

As far as discovering the region is concerned, we had to lower our ambitions because of the heat wave. Nevertheless, we were able to visit Digoin and especially admire the canal bridge. It allows to connect the lateral canal and the canal of the Center by passing over the Loire. An impressive realization which dates from almost 200 years. This kind of work always impresses me.

We also took advantage of the edges of the Loire and of the freshness which was released a little. We also made a small tour in Paray le Monial to discover the imposing Basilica of the city center. The day ended with a very nice aperitif with our hosts. A nice opportunity to get to know each other in a different way than virtually.

A very nice step to start the vacations that we recommend you with closed eyes.

The lands of Baronnies

The Ethik Hotel

After 5 hours of driving, change of scenery, here we are in the regional natural park of the Baronnies Provençale: mountain landscapes, Provençal villages, rivers and streams, crickets for the atmosphere... As far as the temperature is concerned, however, we are not disoriented! Aline and Bruno welcome us and make us visit their "garden" of 6 hectares where they installed the 5 cabins as well as a lodging. We begin the tour of the owner with a superb panoramic terrace. It is here that we will have all our breakfasts and dinners the evenings of table d'hôtes. Each meal is 100% home made and 100% local (except the champagne champagne at the aperitif but it is explained... you will see on the spot! delightful. Aline is a real cordon bleu. It is also at breakfast that that Bruno will take the time to know what you want to do during the day to propose day to propose you activities/visits/walks accordingly and always in an and always in an ecotourism spirit.

Under the terrace is the collective space with the kitchen and the

comfortable and private bathrooms of each cabin. I

not forget the beautiful swimming pool, an invitation to rest after the beautiful

discoveries of the day.

Finally, after a few minutes of descent, we discover the 5

cabins in the woods. They are all unique: one with a terrace on the roof on the roof, others with a view on the plain, one with a floor... And ours,

Cephée, a pretty trapper's hut. All of them have a small water point

water point and dry toilets to ensure comfort without having to go up.

Finally, a second terrace, accessible to all, allows you to observe the stars because there is no light pollution around.

If you are wondering, the huts are equipped to go there also in winter.

to go there also in winter. You can also replace the swimming pool by the Nordic bath.

Just a little advice for future travelers: organize yourself to leave most of your belongings

to leave most of your belongings in the bathroom. Do not

Only take the bare minimum downstairs. Everything that goes down will have to be brought back up at the end at the end of your stay!

Our discoveries

Because of the heat, we gave up the idea of doing some

hiking. On the advice of Bruno, fervent defender of sustainable tourism sustainable tourism, we visited Serre and Rosans the neighboring towns, the old town of the old town of Sisteron and its covered passages as well as its and to finish we observed the vultures. Almost 200 couples are now present in this sector. He also shared with us 2 great sites to go and refresh ourselves but I will not tell you more. but I won't tell you more. I promised not to reveal the locations so that so that they keep their authenticity. If you live in the Terre de Baronnies, I'm sure he will also share his good addresses. addresses. He is full of resources, we have nicknamed him Bruno les good tips, he might even be able to give you some others.

We loved this stay, which was a change of scenery and rejuvenating. We will

We will return but out of season to take advantage of Bruno's hiking tips.

Back to Burgundy

I won't talk about our airbnb accommodation which went badly. Like what the Ethiks Hotels there is only that of true :)

We took advantage of our stay to rent bikes and discover the beautiful hilly landscapes covered with vineyards. To do this we took an old road that has been converted into a bike path and then the banks of the Canal. Despite the heat it was a nice walk, an invitation to slow tourism.

For information the tourist office of Nolay rents several classic or electric bikes, a real good plan to discover the region.

Our summer vacations are now over and we hope that you liked our story about these unusual and responsible accommodations and that it made you want to visit them. On our side we give you an appointment, if the Covid wants it, for our next escapade in Concept West Coast.

And you, what was your summer program?
